Weathering the Storm with Growth

A Moment of Reflection

Last weekend brought one of those moments — the kind where someone who really knows how to push your buttons decides to go all in. And not in a good way, if you know what I mean.

Unfortunately, this isn’t someone I can completely write off (as much as I wish I could some days — but that’s a story for another time). Still, they showed up with their usual energy, pressing every button like clockwork.

The old me might’ve snapped back. But this time? Something different happened.

Growth happened.

I handled it better than I ever have. It didn’t erase the frustration — I’m still human — but I didn’t let the storm take over. I grabbed my phone and wrote what I was feeling right in that moment. I described it like this:

“It’s like a storm coming from every direction — and your first instinct is to run, to find shelter. But this time, I shut the rain down before the storm could get out of control.”

That’s new for me. And it felt good.

Today’s lesson? It’s about progress — about recognizing the shift, even if it feels small. About being proud of the way I found my way back to peace, even when someone else was determined to bring chaos.

Because healing doesn’t always look like things going perfectly.
Sometimes, it looks like staying calm in a storm you used to drown in.
