Taking Time to Reflect: What’s Your Goal?

Today’s Reflection,

Saturday, at my part-time job, I had a conversation with a client in the waiting area. She was telling me about a dance class she had recently started. Despite having taken other dance classes before and catching on quickly, this one had her stumped. Despite not knowing her, I found myself reassuring her. “You’re probably doing better than you think,” I said, encouraging her to keep going.

As we continued talking, she asked if I worked there every day. I explained that it was just a part-time job and, through the natural flow of our conversation, I shared that I had graduated last year, started a blog, and was working toward launching a side hustle.

Then she asked me something that caught me off guard. “What’s the goal?”

I must have looked confused because she repeated the question. Still unsure, I asked for clarification. She then said, “What are you trying to obtain by working two jobs and starting this side hustle?”

So, I told her, and as I explained it, something clicked in that moment. My plans, my efforts, everything I had been working toward—it was all connected to the choices I was making along the way.

Deep down, I already knew this. But saying it out loud, hearing myself articulate it, brought everything into perspective.

In that moment, I realized that sometimes, we’re so focused on where we’re trying to go that we don’t stop to think about how the choices we make each day shape the path that gets us there. Having a goal is one thing, but being intentional about how we move toward it is another.

So today, I ask you: What’s your goal? Are the choices you’re making moving you toward it with intention?
