Whose Love Are You Living?
Today's Thought!
Today’s reflection came to me while watching a movie. Here’s a brief synopsis of the movie: It’s about a woman who allowed a psychic to decide her fate… who she should love. The psychic had once warned her about something life-changing—something she ignored, only for it to come true. Because of that, the psychic became a trusted voice in her life, even influencing her most personal decisions.
I know what you are thinking: yes, it’s just a movie, but it got me wondering—how often do people allow someone else to choose their person?
If you take the time to think about it, It’s funny how easily outside voices can shape how we see someone. “They’re such a great catch!” “You two are perfect together.” And just like that, we start looking at them through borrowed eyes instead of our own.
But what happens when you’re in a relationship with someone you chose, yet the people around you think you should be with someone else? Do you start to question your choice? Do you second-guess the person you once felt so sure about? Suddenly, the habits you once found charming start to seem like red flags—because someone pointed them out. Little things you never noticed before begin to feel bigger, and the strange thing is, those are often the same things that made you fall in love in the first place.
Sometimes, the more we hear other people’s opinions, the harder it becomes to separate what we truly feel from what we’ve been told we should feel. And before we know it, we may find ourselves looking for problems that weren’t there before—or finally noticing things we weren’t ready to see.
Before you let someone else’s perspective change the way you see your relationship, take a moment to ask yourself where those concerns are really coming from.
Are you creating problems based on what others say? Were you so caught up in the good parts that you overlooked the rest? Are these real concerns, or are you only paying more attention to the negative issues because someone brought them up? Because at the end of the day, love is yours to live.
Just make sure it’s really yours!
